Department of Electrical and computer engineering
Engineering
Electrical and computer engineers enjoy excellent job prospects because they are always needed.
Explore our Programs
In engineering education into our curriculum at High Point University, students have access to state of the art equipment from top manufacturers, both in electrical courses such as electronics, and in the MakerSpace supporting our freshman and senior design courses.
Degrees & Minors
Student Spotlights
Emily Lattanzio
Computer Engineering
Lattanzio is the first woman to receive her engineering degree from HPU. Her experiences resulted in her achieving three publications, one of which she was a first author for the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a professional association for electrical engineering.
Luke Schooley
Computer Engineering
Schooley is among the first graduates to receive a degree in computer engineering from HPU. He interned with the medical technology company Siemens Healthineers, exploring ways to control and automate the systems that create lab diagnostic tests.
Grace Crockett
Computer Science
Crockett worked as the programming instructor for Microsoft to teach underprivileged kids how to code using JavaScript. She worked 50 hours a week, teaching the kids how create a website and eventually, their own game.
Ashlyn Hanks
Computer Science
Hanks joins Digital Cloak LLC as a technical intern. She works on three different project teams. Tasks include scanning networks to find vulnerabilities and using different open source intelligence tools.
Labs and Facilities
MakerSpace
With the completion of the Makerspace in the Webb School of Engineering, students at High Point University have a variety of resources that enable them to design and build many different types of projects, beginning with the Introduction to Engineering Design class in the first semester of freshman year.
Cybersecurity Engineering Learning Facility (CELF)
While traditional cybersecurity labs rely on overly structured simulations that lack real-world urgency and randomness, CELF takes a more hands-on, active, and realistic approach. The unique approach put forward by the CELF lab allows students the
freedom to develop new and endless pathways to each goal.
